Sorting, filtering and bulk actions
===================================

Updated 1 week ago

    Search Go

The list views across Civio Engage let you sort columns, filter to the records you want, and act on several records at once. The search box and filter controls sit in the table header on every list, including Projects, Surveys, Users, Documents, Content and Events.

Sort a column
-------------

Click a column header to sort the list by that column. Sortable columns show a chevron in the header. Click the header again to switch between ascending and descending order.

Each column sorts in the way that makes sense for its data, so dates, numbers, names and workflow statuses all order as you would expect.

Filter a list
-------------

1. In the table header, click the **Filters** button to open the filter panel.
2. Click **+ Add filter**, then choose the field and the value you want to filter by. Add as many filters as you need.
3. Each filter you apply appears as a chip above the table. To remove one, click the **x** on its chip. To clear them all at once, click **Reset filters**.

When one or more filters are active, the **Filters** button shows a count of how many are applied, so you always know what you are looking at.

#### Tip

You can combine a search term with filters to narrow your results further. For example, search for **park** in Projects while filtering by Status: **Published** to see only published projects with "park" in the title or description.

Select and act in bulk
----------------------

1. Tick the checkbox at the start of each row you want to include. The header shows how many rows are selected, with the option to **Select all** results in the list.
2. Choose the action to apply to every selected row. You can **Delete** the selected records, or change their workflow status.

Changing the workflow status in bulk is available only when all the selected items currently share the same status. Large bulk actions are processed in the background, so you can keep working while they finish.
