Dashboard widgets help you visualise and track engagement data. Each dashboard comes with default widgets, but you can customise them to show exactly what you want to measure.

How Widget Data Works
---------------------

Widget data is determined by two main factors:

- Your reporting context (main dashboard, project dashboard, participation tool report or user report)
- Your selected date filter

![The dashboard's date filter, with Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days and Custom range, which sets the period the widget data is drawn from.](https://engage.knowledge.civ.io/storage/44ji3ACfSWrljJeZ0oJxkLri40puZswdFgrbEX0D.png)

#### Understanding “Unique“ Metrics

When you see “unique“ in a metric (like unique visitors or participants), it's counting one visit per IP address. Important note: Since multiple people can share an IP address (like in a household or workplace), several individuals using the same network will count as one unique visitor.

Available Widget Types
----------------------

### 1. User Tracking Widgets

#### User Count & User List

Track users based on verification status, activity, or registration with these metrics:

MetricDetailVerifiedTotal number of verified usersLast ActiveUsers showing activity within your specified timeframeRegistrationsNumber of new user registrationsConfiguration Options:

- Roles: Filter by specific user roles (Administrator, Project Manager, etc.)
- Exclude Roles: Remove specific roles from the count
- Suffix: Add context text after the number (e.g., “Users“)

### 2. Time Series Widgets

Time series widgets help you visualise trends over time. Here's an example:

### Available Time Series Types:

#### User Activity

- Unique visitors
- Total visits
- Bounce rates

#### Form Activity

Track form engagement over time including:

### 3. Content (Content tables)

Create customisable content tables showing detailed metrics for your content. Here's an example:

![A content table on a dashboard, listing the top performing participation tools with their submissions, unique visitors and total visits.](https://engage.knowledge.civ.io/storage/CL0tXEgNmDGbGfX61GGpRt1HisVlqyp5Fivqyizh.png)

### Available Table Types:

#### Content Tables

Track pages, updates, and stages with metrics like:

- Total visits
- Moderation status
- Author
- Last updated date
- Created date
- Published date
- Unique visitors
- Average bounce count
- Average time on page

#### Document Tables

Monitor document performance with metrics like:

- Downloads
- Moderation status
- Author information
- File details (extension, size)

#### Event Tables

Track event performance with metrics like:

- Attendee numbers
- Visitor statistics
- Engagement metrics

#### Survey Tables

Monitor participation tools with metrics like:

#### User Report Tables

These three tables appear only on a user report, and each lists that user's own activity:

Widget
