Participation tool widgets Participation tool widgets ========================== Updated 6 days ago · 4 min read Search Search When viewing survey results in your reporting dashboard, different question types are represented by specific widget types. This guide explains how each widget works and what they mean. #### Quick Reference Survey responses are analysed using different widgets depending on the question type: \- **Count of selections** for multiple choice questions \- **Sentiment analysis** for text responses \- **Domain analysis** for emails and URLs \- **Weighted scoring** for ranking questions Widget Types Overview --------------------- ### Count of Selections The **Count of selections** widget shows how many times each answer option was chosen by participants. There is no numeric score behind it, so responses cannot be ranked by how positive they are. ### Email and URL Domain Analysis This widget extracts and categorises domains from email addresses and URLs: - For emails: Extracts domain after “@“ (e.g., gmail.com) - For URLs: Extracts main domain (e.g., example.com) ![An email and URL domain analysis widget, grouping responses by domain](https://engage.knowledge.civ.io/storage/6RjPj3TNTHZ1lU7iPb2q5MxIWNwiZ3pkGEpCohUc.png) ### Weighted Score Used primarily for ranking questions, the weighted score helps understand how participants prioritised different options. ![A Weighted score widget, showing how participants prioritised the ranked options](https://engage.knowledge.civ.io/storage/XpGrhVd0prEcd6IxzJYq7kTjvZwNWQVFHHPq2iVK.png) #### How Weighted Scores Work Each option receives a score based on its ranking position: - Highest possible score = Total number of options - Unranked items receive 0 points - Final score = Sum of all rankings divided by total responses ### Phone Number Analysis This widget groups phone number responses by their first four digits, so you can see at a glance how responses are spread across number types. It does not label the groups or interpret what each prefix means. ![A Phone number analysis widget, grouping responses by their first four digits](https://engage.knowledge.civ.io/storage/35Lm0dVKv7HXVowguYIhJNiaENBwE71OsH9pS8TA.png) ### Form Analytics URLs Widget The Form analytics URLs widget allows you to track where your embedded surveys are being viewed and submitted from: - View submission counts by URL for embedded surveys - Track views and submissions from external websites - Monitor survey performance across different platforms To add this widget, go to any survey's report page and add the “Form analytics urls“ widget from the Survey widget category. ### Map Submissions Widget The **Map submissions** widget plots every spatial submission to the tool on a map, so you can see where responses came from. It is available on a participation tool report. ### Submission Referer URLs Widget The **Submission Referer urls** widget lists the pages people came from before they submitted, with a count of submissions against each. It has two columns, **Referer URL** and **Conversions**, sorted by conversions. Tick **Show path only** to strip the domain and group by path. Question Types and Their Widgets -------------------------------- Some question types may show different visualizations depending on your reporting dashboard settings and the nature of the responses collected.
