Magic Code Authentication: Quick and Easy Access

   Civio Engage's magic code authentication provides a streamlined way for users to participate in community engagement activities like following projects or RSVPing to events without having to create an account first.

This feature uses a simple email verification process that removes barriers to participation while maintaining security and user verification.

### How Magic Code Authentication Works

When you try to follow a project or RSVP to an event without being logged in, you'll be prompted to verify your email with a magic code instead of going through a traditional registration process:

1. Enter your email address
2. Receive a confirmation code to your email
3. Enter the code on the website
4. Complete your desired action (following or RSVPing)

#### What is a Magic Code?

A magic code is a secure, one-time verification code sent to your email that allows quick authentication without needing to remember a password. The code is valid for 10 minutes.

### First-Time Users

If you're new to Civio Engage, the system will automatically create an account for you after verifying your email. You'll then:

1. Receive a welcome email with a link to set your password
2. Get a notification on the platform prompting you to complete your account setup
3. Have the option to set your password now or later

Setting a password is optional but recommended as it allows for easier login in the future. Your account is already created and verified through the magic code process.

### Returning Users

If you already have an account with Civio Engage:

1. Enter your email address
2. Receive and enter the confirmation code
3. You'll be logged in and can complete your action immediately

#### Users with Two-Factor Authentication

If your account has two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, you'll need to use the standard login form instead of the magic code process. The system will notify you if this is the case.
