Send notifications to project followers
=======================================

   **Project followers can receive notifications and updates about the project to stay informed about it's progress.**

To follow a project, members of the public can click on the **+ Follow** button located on the main project page. Project followers receive email notifications when project updates are posted.

Project administrators can view the list of followers, send notifications, and export the list.

***Note:** Following a project does not require the public user to have a registered Civio Engage account. When a new public user clicks follow on a Project, they will receive a verification email which expires after 60 minutes.*

Disable project followers
-------------------------

Administrators can disable the follower functionality on individual projects. This is useful for projects where ongoing updates are not planned.

To disable followers on a project:

1. Navigate to the project and click the **Edit** tab.
2. Scroll to **Advanced Settings** and open the **Appearance settings** section.
3. Enable the option to disable followers.
4. Click **Save**. The follow button will no longer appear on the frontend for this project.

To view the project followers list
----------------------------------

To view the list of users following a specific project:

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**. This displays a list of all existing projects.
2. Click on a **Title** to open a project.
3. Click on the **Followers** tab to see a list of users following this project. This list includes user names, email addresses and the date they subscribed to the project.

To send notifications to project followers
------------------------------------------

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**. This displays a list of all existing projects.
2. Click on a **Title** to open a project.
3. In the project sub-menu, under **Content**, click **Updates**. This shows all the updates that exist for this project.
4. Select the update that you want to send as a notification to project followers.
5. On the right-hand side of the screen, under **Notifications**, click **Yes, send to \[...\] followers.**
6. Confirm by clicking **Yes, send now**.
7. Project followers will receive a notification of the update.

Export project followers list
-----------------------------

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**. This will display a list of all existing projects.
2. Click on a project title to open it.
3. Click on the **ellipsis** on the top right of the screen to view additional options. Select **Export followers** to start the download.
4. The .xlsx file will contain the username, email, and follow date (if available) for each follower of the project.
