Create and edit poll
====================

   Polls let you gather instant feedback and report on real time results through dynamic charting. Quick polls encourage user interaction and reduce the feedback cycle as results are instantly shared with the public and platform administrators.

Add a poll
----------

To add a poll to your project:

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**.
2. Click on a project to open it.
3. In the project sub-menu, under **Participation**, click **Polls**. This shows all the polls created for this project.
4. Click on the **+** icon located on the right hand side of the screen.
5. Give the poll a **Title**. This will be publicly visible on your project page.
6. Provide a brief **Summary** to add more detail to the poll question.
7. Add **Introduction text** which will display above the submission form.
8. **Add options** for respondents to choose from. These options can be as simple as Yes/No answers, or as detailed as required. Click **+Add option** to add more options.
9. Set an **End date** to determine when this Poll will stop accepting new submissions.
10. Decide whether poll submissions can be done only by logged-in users or by anyone by selecting **Authenticated** or **Anyone** from the **Allowed submitter** dropdown.
11. Optionally, enable **Display results after submission** to allow community members to see poll results immediately after voting. When enabled, results appear as a bar chart without requiring a page refresh. Poll cards will also update to show results after a vote is cast.
12. When you're finished, click **Publish**.

Edit a poll
-----------

To edit an existing poll:

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**.
2. Click on a project to open it.
3. In the project sub-menu, under **Participation**, click **Polls**. This shows all the polls created for this project.
4. Scroll to the relevant poll, and click on the **ellipsis** on the right hand side for more menu options.
5. Click **Edit**.
6. Alternatively, click on the poll you want to edit, then click the **Edit** tab.
7. When you're finished making your changes, click **Publish**.

Delete a poll
-------------

You can delete a poll from a project if it's no longer needed, or was created by mistake. This permanently removes the poll and all its content and cannot be undone. Proceed with caution!

*Note: you may not have delete permissions as part of your role. If you have any questions about your permissions, contact your Civio Engage administrator.*

To delete a poll:

1. In the left-hand menu bar, click **Projects**.
2. Click on a project to open it.
3. In the project sub-menu, under **Participation**, click **Polls**. This shows all the polls that already exist for this project.
4. Scroll to the relevant poll, and click on the **ellipsis** on the right hand side for more menu options.
5. Click **Delete**.
6. You'll be prompted with a warning to confirm the action. Click **Yes, Delete this Poll.**
7. Your poll is now deleted.
